Hi IOTA chaser.

I am back from YB land.

First off, I have a poll for your experience with QSL via YB9BU in the past 2 years.

Keep it simple, I want to know if most of you have trouble or not, I also want to hear from those with positive experience, not only the negative. This type of poll usually skewed with more those who had negative experience responding to the poll.

Col, if you can help spread this poll in your DX World I would appreciate it so not only those on this mailing list can respond. I will present the data (poll will close on 9/20) to Kadek.

I had a nice meeting with Kadek YB9BU and YB3MM in Singaraja at the Kadek QTH, about 4 hours from Nusa Dua (southern tip of Bali) where I stayed. Here is what I can report :

1. Kadek is up to date on ALL QSL received. If you have not received your card, he either has not received your request or his reply never made it to you.

2. Please DO NOT email him, his email was hacked, and he can no longer consistently log on to check his email. If you do, you may end up waiting for the reply that never comes.

3. Kadek realizes that many are still waiting for QSL cards and he is the process (he gave no specific timeline) of getting set up with Paypal or other type of OQRS. I suggested that it should be 3 USD so that he can send the return via registered mail to increase safety. It costs 3 USD to send registered mail to USA.

I hand delivered the lists of QSOs from some of you who are still waiting for QSL from Kadek. I was promised that those QSLs will be sent  to me via registered mail.

Please understand that he lives in a small town in the northern part of Bali Island. Postal system is indeed not reliable, even inter-island within Indonesia, let alone international mail. The mail can be opened in Jakarta at the main post office, at the Custom, or Bali post office at the capital Denpasar or in Singaraja. There are lots hands handling your mail containing IRC or greenstamps.

Kadek has had some health issue in the past but he is "fine" now, still under doctor's care, and will not jeopardize his reputation as QSL manager. He is very proud of what he does and has always held the IOTA community in high regard. He showed me his log book from 1997 when we first had our contact I was N2UE then, I saw N5UR, W5BOS, N6VR K6AWD W5ZPA among others in the log book.

Kadek is highly respected by island activators in YB land and it is their wish that he remains his manager. If you look the list of stations he manages, MOST are not active anymore. The only active stations I can think of is YC9MKF, YB0AR, YB8XM, YB8RW, and his team.

I applaud YB8XM for handling some of the more recent expedition himself and for setting up the Paypal for OQRS.

I also want to thank Din YB8RW for his willingness to handle his own cards IN ADDITION to QSL via YB9BU, he now can confirm ALL of his prior island dxpeditions. He has logs and QSL cards. Pse email him your QSO details and paypal your postage.

Din YB8RW has nice signal into the east coast this morning and I made QSO at 11:28z on 14.260.

Imam YB4IR/8 also was strong on 30M up to 12:15 but I had to leave, could not break the pileup though.

John YB5NOF was on briefly /P from Bintan OC075 this past weekend. QSL via W2FB.

We can expect more activities from Din YB8RW in the coming months. Imam YB4IR and Budi YF1AR are always looking for new adventures. YB3MM are also planning a few dxpdetions. Stay tuned.
