OC-196 VK5CE/3 Gobo Island plan (1/31-2/1 2017)

Dear Japanese friends

I will be activating GaboIsland OC-196 on January 31 to February 1 2017 as VK5CE/3. The last organised IOTA DXpedition was back in 2001.

There were a couple of lighthouse weekend operations but their focus was ILLW and not IOTA. Their QSOs were mainly with VK/ZL lighthouse sand a little bit of DX, as indicated by there only being 2.8% claimed by currentIOTA chasers in the last 8 years as per the 2016 IOTA Directory (page 118).

I look forward to working many JA IOTA chasers, especially on 15m, 17m and 20m during the late morning through to early evening in the period 2100 UTC to 1000 UTC.

OC-196は過去に4回実施されています。VK3FBL/P(Apr 1994)、VK3AJJ/P(Sep 1998)、VK3DK/P(Aug 2001)、VK3ATX/P(Aug 2014)ですが、Craigのメッセージにもありますが、結果として1998年のVK3AJJ/Pが最もアクティブだったようです。

CraigはAll SSB運用ですが、風の便りではCWの練習をされているようです。ちょうど半年先ですので上手に捌くCraigさんのCWに期待しましょう。

VK2 New South Wales州とVK3 Victoria州の州境に近いVK3寄りに位置しています。

VK本土に近い位置です。

島は岩場が多く、VK本土に近いですが、中央に港が見えます。また、南側に東西に滑走路があります。建物も数件あります。宿泊設備、電気、水道は大丈夫でしょう。

追伸

残念ながらOC-214とOC-216はVK5MAV、VK5CEでは実現できないと思います。大きな資金バックアッパー、もとくは自前の船を準備できることができなければ無理と思われます。
